Cambridge Street Loft

Rather than competing with the rich “loft architecture” native to this space, we sought to elevate its beauty by creating juxtaposing elements. The starkly plastered, deeply pigmented walls of this simple intervention stand out against the light colored brick, wood beams and heating ducts of the raw space.

The Kitchen, Bathroom, Closet and Mechanical Room are pushed to the perimeter. The inserted walls are finished in painted gypsum board in the Living Areas and contain bookshelves on the side that faces the exterior.

The Bedroom is located at the perimeter. It is in a privileged position at the front of the building. Its tall windows overlook the West End neighborhood below Beacon Hill.
